As a result of the investigation in the Swedish police, it was discovered that employees allegedly pass confidential information to members of gangs, often engaging in intimate relationships. According to the newspaper Dagens Nyheter, there are about 500 cases of such information leaks.

The leaked data included details about gang rivals, which provoked retaliatory violence, sometimes even leading to fatal attacks. Approximately 30 police officers, marked as “security risks,” either resigned or were fired due to these violations.

The report sheds light on two common scenarios: the use of intimate connections with officers and the coercion of individuals with family ties to criminal elements. Gangs exploited various vulnerabilities, from debts from gambling to substance abuse, to force officers to disclose important information.

These revelations underscore Sweden’s ongoing struggle with rising violence, primarily fueled by turf wars between criminal syndicates vying for dominance in drug markets, marked by alarming frequencies of bombings and shootings.
