She accessorized her outfit for the evening by adding a chunky, silver necklace with rhinestone details that sparkled underneath the bright lights.

Anna additionally added a large, silver brooch on the left side of her coat that also had glittering, floral-shaped details.

The media executive slipped into a pair of open-toed, white pumps to coincide with the color scheme of her dress.

Wintour's short locks were parted in the middle, and fell down to nearly brush the tips of her shoulders while her bangs gently fell onto her forehead.

Her makeup was classically done, and comprised of a layer of mascara to her lashes as well as a light, shimmering shadow around her eyes.

A warm blush was added to her cheekbones for a radiant glow, while a satin, rosy pink tint was worn on her lips for a finishing touch.

Anna - who has led the annual gala since 1995 - flashed a cheerful smile as she flaunted her ensemble on the red carpet, which was bordered by greenery and white florals.

The star-studded festivities annually take place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the first Monday in May - drawing in numerous celebrities for the big night.

The MET's Costume Institute is celebrating the new exhibition called Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion with the dress code being The Garden of Time.

Shortly before the main event kicked off on Monday, Anna sat down with Today host, Jenna Bush Hager, to open up about the MET Gala.

During the interview, the British-born editor revealed the 'cardinal sin' that she has committed in regards to this year's exhibition Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion - which sparked a bit of 'confusion.'

'This exhibition broke my cardinal rule, Jenna, which is when we came up with the title Sleeping Beauties, it's wonderful and poetic and romantic, but it actually could be many, many things.'

Anna notably joined forces with the MET's Costume Institute curator, Andrew Bolton, to decide on the Garden of Time dress code.

'I fear that we've unleashed a lot of confusion out there for which I deeply apologize, but I imagine we'll see a lot of flowers,' she expressed to Jenna.

She also talked about certain food items that she has taken off the menu during the event, which include onions, chives and garlic. 'Well, those are three things I'm not particularly fond of, and so yes, that's true.'

On the topic of the no cellphone rule at the gala, Wintour explained, 'It's often wonderful to hear after dinner, people say, "Oh, we had the most wonderful conversations..."'

'And so that's the idea, that life can exist without a picture on your cell phone,' the star further added.

Jenna also revealed Anna's rather cryptic response on whether Taylor Swift will be in attendance - although it has been rumored that she is not due to time conflicts with her Eras Tour which resumes in France on May 9.

'I also had to ask, because Mila Hager asked if Taylor was gonna be there, and she (Anna) said, "I hope she comes and enjoys the exhibit,"' she stated, referencing to her daughter.
