An incredible mistake occurred at the Vienna General Hospital (AKH) when an employee was mistakenly paid for 9,901 overtime hours instead of the actual 1.41 hours worked, as reported by Kurier.

This led to an unexpected deposit of around 150,000 euros into her salary account. The error was attributed to a data entry mistake in the personnel administration, and the amount was reclaimed. It was discovered that the code for overtime hours was confused with the actual number.

The City Audit Office recommended that the Health Association and Department 2 of the Magistrate improve their internal control mechanisms to avoid such errors in the future.
