A team of French bakers on Sunday ousted Italy with a new world record, creating a 140-meter-long baguette, as reported by DW. The team of 18 bakers in the French town of Suren, a western suburb of Paris, set a new Guinness World Record on Sunday by making a baguette measuring 143.53 meters.

The team surpassed the previous record by more than 10 meters, reclaiming the title for France, which had been held by bakers from the Italian city of Como for the past five years. The record was set during an event organized by the French Confederation of Bakers and Pastry Chefs.

The participating bakers said they began kneading the dough for the delicacy weighing 152 kilograms at around 3 a.m. For the record-breaking baguette, they used 90 kilograms of flour, 60 liters of water, 1.2 kilograms of salt, and 1.2 kilograms of yeast. It was then baked in a specially constructed, slowly moving oven.
