India’s Foreign Affairs Minister accused Canada of harboring criminals from India in response to recent RCMP arrests related to a homicide case, The Globe And Mail reported.

Subrahmanyam Jaishankar criticized Canada’s handling of the case, labeling Ottawa as the primary supporter of a violent Sikh separatist movement.

The arrests made by the RCMP in connection with the death of Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, B.C., have escalated tensions between the two nations. Nijjar was a prominent advocate for Khalistan, a proposed Sikh homeland in India.

Jaishankar emphasized that Canada’s leniency towards individuals associated with Sikh separatism undermines India’s security and sovereignty.

The Indian Minister highlighted concerns about the nexus between Khalistan separatists and organized crime, urging Canada to take stricter measures against such individuals.

Meanwhile, Ottawa maintains that India has not provided sufficient evidence to substantiate its claims of terrorism or criminal activity within Canadian borders.

India’s accusations against Canada have stirred diplomatic tensions and prompted calls for stronger action against alleged criminal elements operating within Sikh separatist networks.
