Caitlin Clark had another awkward reporter exchange with ‘bae’ question before WNBA debut

It’s been a weird entry to professional media availability for Caitlin Clark.

The Indiana Fever star has already had her share of awkward exchanges in her WNBA media appearances.

Clark had another weird exchange with a reporter prior to her WNBA Debut on May 3, where she scored 21 points in a preseason game against the Dallas Wings.

Prior to game, she was asked by a reporter if “bae” will be in attendance, referring to her boyfriend — former Iowa basketball player Connor McCaffery.

“Huh, no. He’s working… I’m playing solo,” Clark said. “I better get used to him, man. I’m a pro.”

Weeks ago, Clark had the famous awkward exchange with Indianapolis Star columnist Gregg Doyel.

He began the interaction by flashing the heart symbol that Clark displays to her family after games, to which Clark replied: “You like that?”

It sparked a back-and-forth that ended with Doyel saying: “Start doing it to me and we’ll get along just fine.”

He later apologized for how awkward it all was.

Clark also blocked former NFL All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown for a crude remark.

Clark and the Fever are scheduled to host the Atlanta Dream on May 9 — previously moved from May 10 due to the Pacers hosting the Knicks in Game 3 of their NBA playoff series.

The game will be the Fever’s preseason home opener, and their last on the schedule before the regular season begins on May 14.
