In Germany, a data leak from Bundeswehr meetings in video format was detected due to a lack of video conferencing tools used by the German military, according to DW. It is reported that due to a problem with the Webex video conferencing system, thousands of Bundeswehr video meetings were publicly accessible on the Internet.

The security breach occurred in the Bundeswehr’s own version of Webex, which is more secure than the public version. According to the publication, more than six thousand meetings were found online, some of which were supposed to be classified.

German military officials stated that the bug was fixed within 24 hours of being discovered. Zeit Online discovered online conference rooms used by 248 thousand German soldiers.

Journalists were able to find the online meeting room of Air Force Commander Ingo Gerhartz. Zeit Online reports that the military only became aware of the security flaws after being approached for comment.

Recall that in early March, an audio recording of Bundeswehr officers discussing the possibility of using German long-range Taurus missiles to strike the Kerch Strait Bridge was made public in Russia. The German Ministry of Defense initiated an investigation into whether conversations of representatives of the air force were intercepted – conversations that, according to Russian propaganda claims, discussed the sabotage of the Kerch Bridge with Taurus missiles.

Subsequently, the Ministry of Defense confirmed the interception of the conversation.
