“Mission: Breakfast” provides free breakfast for military, Veterans

We invite you to cover the Joint Base San Antonio “Mission: Breakfast” event, May 7, 2024, from 7–10 a.m. at JBSA-Lackland.

This exciting event provides free breakfast to our military-connected community, including JBSA personnel and families, military trainees from across the installation, and Veterans with JBSA-registered veteran health ID cards.

WHO: Veterans, trainees, JBSA personnel, senior leaders and the U.S. Air Force Band of the West. Notably, members of the Smucker family will attend, and the “Today” show will broadcast live.

WHAT: Smucker’s, their partners and sister brands are providing free breakfast with live music and giveaways to the military-connected community at JBSA for up to 10,000 attendees. 

JBSA servicemembers and leaders will be available for interviews, if requested.

WHEN: Tuesday, May 7 from 7 to 10 a.m. The opening ceremony begins at 6:50 a.m. and includes the National Anthem played by the Band of the West followed by remarks from representatives of Smucker’s, DeCA and JBSA.

Media interested in attending should arrive at the Luke East Gate Visitor Center parking lot (address is 2602 Luke Blvd. JBSA-Lackland, Texas 78236) no later than 6:30 a.m. to be escorted to the event.

WHERE: Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Airpark (Parade Field), B-52H Stratofortress static display area.

WHY: The JBSA-Lackland Commissary is the 2023 winner of the J.M. Smucker Company “Mission: Breakfast.” Each year Smucker’s hosts a friendly competition among military installation commissaries for the best in-store display of the company’s products. DeCA’s JBSA-Lackland won top honors for the most creative product display during the contest promotional period. DeCA delivers a vital benefit, improving quality of life and readiness to thousands of military-connected members across JBSA.
