In Missouri, a 79-year-old man was charged with first-degree murder for allegedly stabbing a woman more than 120 times in 1966, CNN reported.

The victim, Karen Snider, 18, was found dead in Calumet City, Illinois, covered in stab wounds and bruises.

James Barbier, initially a suspect in 1966 but never charged, was arrested after a DNA sample linked him to the crime in December 2022. Barbier, who knew Snider through her husband, exhibited suspicious behavior on the night of the murder, including washing bloodstained clothes and showing up to Snider’s funeral with cuts on his body.

Despite being released with pretrial conditions due to his age and physical condition, Barbier must adhere to strict rules, including surrendering his passport and firearms, and reporting regularly to authorities.
