From January 1 to April 24, they corrected 118 statements, making at least 148 adjustments. They most often concern specific numbers, dates, names, and titles. But sometimes they correct entire phrases. This data is provided by the American portal Daily Caller.

Journalists examined the official transcripts of Joe Biden’s speeches on the White House website. Press office staff make edits to these texts if the US president makes a slip of the tongue.

For example, in March, when talking about his American Rescue Plan, Biden said, “every American voted against” it. The press office corrected it to “every Republican.” At the same time, the president said, “the threat to democracy must be defended” instead of “defeated.” In April, he said, “we misunderstood this.” In the transcript, “we” was changed to “they.” Recently, Biden even read the technical term “pause” in the teleprompter. Daily Caller notes that during Donald Trump’s presidency, the press office corrected the president’s speeches much less frequently.
