Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has returned historical artifacts to the Aboriginal Kaurna tribe during her visit to Australia, after being held in Germany for over 150 years, as reported by Kurier.

These artifacts, including a wooden sword, a spear, a fishing net, and a club, were sent to Germany in the 19th century by two missionaries and were last exhibited in the Leipzig Gassi Museum of Ethnology.

The handover took place during a ceremony in Adelaide, South Australia, where Baerbock emphasized that each object holds a multitude of stories about the Kaurna’s life over 150 years ago.

This step marks the beginning of Baerbock’s week-long journey to the Indo-Pacific region, which includes meetings with Australian counterparts and visits to facilities such as the Australian Cyber Cooperation Centre and the Osborne shipyard. Meanwhile, Germany has halted active search efforts for a missing citizen named Arian.
