Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos nearly had two Lolas in their family! On this morning’s Live with Kelly and Mark, Consuelos asked Ripa if her parents ever mixed up her and her sister’s names. Ripa teased that he would not only mix up the two of them, but her mother’s name would be added into the mix, as well.

“When we answered the phone, my dad would say, ‘Ess-Linda-Kell?'” she said.

Meanwhile, Consuelos shared that his father calls him “Mike-Mark,” and calls his brother “Mark-Mike,” which Ripa said she had noticed. This gave way for Consuelos to reveal a psychologists’ findings about what it means for a person to mix up their kids’ names.

“‘Mixing up your children’s names isn’t necessarily a cause of concern,’ one expert says,” he read aloud.

Ripa chimed in, “Well, that’s good.”

Consuelos continued, “Yeah, no concern. ‘They surveyed 1,700 people, finding that more than half of the participants had experienced the name-confusing of relatives, and 95% were called the incorrect name by a family member.'”

While he deemed the latter finding to be “a lot,” Consuelos proceeded to read that “it’s not a cognitive thing” or a “cause to aging,” but rather “more likely a sign of stress.”

Ripa then teased that Consuelos’ father “always calls [her] Mike-Mark-Adriana-Roxanne.”

“And then eventually he works his way down to Kelly,” she added.

Consuelos confirmed that his father eventually “gets to it,”but claimed that he and Ripa “don’t really do that with [their] kids.”

“Although I do call Lola Chewie sometimes,” he quipped, referring to their 22-year-old daughter and their 17-year-old dog.

However, Ripa noted that it’s the other way around.

“No, you call Chewie Lola, because that was Chewie’s original name,” she explained. “Chewie’s original name when we adopted her was Lola, but we had already had a Lola, and we felt like that would cause confusion.”

Consuelos said, “I don’t think she’s over it,” prompting Ripa to ask, “Lola or Chewie?” When Consuelos confirmed that he meant Chewie, Ripa agreed.

“Yeah, she doesn’t respond to Chewie,” she echoed, to which Consuelos added, “”She’s like, ‘Yeah, I don’t like this name.'”
