Shedeur Sanders 2025 NFL Draft stock falls after shading ex-Colorado safety

Shedeur Sanders saw his draft stock take a hit after he called out a former teammate for being “mid” on social media.

Sanders opened at +100 on DraftKings to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft but has since seen his stock drop considerably, with oddsmakers moving him down to +300.

He is still favored to go No. 1, with less confidence, as Carson Beck comes in at +500 and Quinn Ewers sits at +600.

The movement comes at an interesting time for Sanders, as the Colorado Buffaloes are attempting to swoop into the transfer portal and swipe away other schools’ top talent.

Safety Xavier Smith, who has since transferred to Austin Peay, took specific offense to the Buffaloes’ tactics when he said that coach Deion Sanders “never tried to get to know me.”

Sanders’ son Shedeur came to his defense immediately after, saying that Smith must have been “very mid.”

This was not well received around the league, including senior NFL reporter Albert Breer, who reposted it and said, “Shedeur Sanders’ pre-draft process is gonna be a wild ride,”

DraftKings moving off their Sanders optimism is a bit scary as he could single-handedly be tanking his value by calling out his ex-teammates.

Aside from this dust-up, Deion also had gone on record to say that he plans on using the Eli Manning playbook to set the table for Shedeur to end up on the team he wants to go to.

Speaking on the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast, Deion Sanders said, “I know where I want them to go,’’ in regards to next year’s draft.

“So it’s certain cities that ain’t gonna happen. It’s gonna be an Eli.”

During the 2003 NFL Draft, Eli’s father, Archie, forced his son to New York instead of San Diego who had the No. 1 overall pick.

Manning wound up having a borderline Hall of Fame career with the Giants, while the Chargers ended up having successful –– albeit championship-less seasons with Phillip Rivers.

If that’s what Shedeur wants, he will need to have a big season for the Buffaloes this season.

Colorado opens up against North Dakota State on Aug. 29 at home.
