Hamas announced plans to send a delegation to Cairo to further ceasefire negotiations in response to Egypt’s proposal. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh conveyed the movement’s positive reception of the ceasefire proposal to Egypt’s intelligence chief, Assoiated Press reported.

Meanwhile, protests against the Israel-Hamas conflict have erupted across university campuses in the United States. Over 2,000 protesters have been arrested in the past two weeks, demanding an end to the war and urging universities to disassociate from companies supporting Israel’s military efforts.

United Nations estimates reveal that even if the Israel-Hamas conflict ceased immediately, it would take until 2040 to rebuild all the homes destroyed during nearly seven months of bombardment and ground offensives in Gaza. The war has displaced 80% of Gaza’s 2.3 million population, causing extensive destruction and pushing northern Gaza towards famine. The death toll in Gaza has surpassed 34,500 people, exacerbating the region’s humanitarian crisis.
