A young man, 18 years old, is suspected of intentionally shooting his father during a hunting trip in Middle Franconia, as reported by Der Spiegel. He was arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of manslaughter.

The police believe it to be a premeditated act, although investigations are still ongoing. Both the father and the son are from Ludwigsburg in Baden-Württemberg.

The father’s body was found by walkers near the town of Burgbernheim in Bavaria after the son confessed to his mother over the phone that he had shot his father. The 18-year-old later surrendered to the police, and a rifle was found in his car.

During a search in a nearby pond, divers found a second rifle, which the son had told investigators would be there.

The father was a regular hunter in Burgbernheim, though it remains unclear whether his son often accompanied him.

The exact circumstances of the crime and the son’s motive remain unclear as he remained silent before the examining magistrate. Detectives are hopeful for further insights from the autopsy of the body.
