Thunderstorms with squally winds and hail, hitting northern France from Wednesday to Thursday, caused significant damage to crops and led to the death of one person, BFMTV reports.

The fatal incident due to the weather occurred in the municipality of Courmelles, northeast of Paris. A flash flood, triggered by heavy rain, damaged many houses, and a woman died in the most flooded yard.

In many areas, storms were accompanied by heavy hail, which battered gardens and vineyards. Farmers complain of losing a large portion of their crops. In some places, the hailstones were the size of table tennis balls. Flights bound for Paris had to be redirected to other airports due to the severe weather.
