A police officer in Britain is facing charges related to terrorism for expressing support for Hamas on the messaging platform WhatsApp, as disclosed by a police watchdog on Wednesday.

Mohammed Adil, a constable in West Yorkshire, allegedly shared images endorsing Hamas, a group classified as a terrorist organization in the United Kingdom, according to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Adil is accused of two counts of disseminating images in support of a banned organization, a violation of the Terrorism Act, for allegedly sharing these images on WhatsApp during October and November.

Following the allegations, Adil has been suspended from duty by the West Yorkshire police force. He is set to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
