After forcing schools and airports to close, Indonesia’s Mount Ruang volcano unleashed more hot clouds, as reported by AP News. Villages were bombarded with volcanic debris, leading hundreds to evacuate.

Seven airports, including the one in Manado, remained shut following the second eruption in two weeks. Schools were closed to shield children from volcanic ash. Authorities urged people to stay at least 7 kilometers away from the crater and warned of potential super-heated clouds and tsunamis.

Villagers being evacuated by navy ships, with thousands more awaiting rescue. Around 11,000 to 12,000 individuals within the danger zone were slated for relocation to government shelters. Although Tuesday’s eruption caused no casualties, concerns persist about the volcano’s potential collapse into the sea following its April 17 eruption.

Indonesia, with about 130 active volcanoes, faces frequent volcanic activity and earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific “Ring of Fire.”
