‘The Show’ Episode 99: Jeremy Hefner Talks Mets’ Strong Pitching, Injuries

The Mets’ pitching has been a huge surprise so far with just how good they have been.

They came into the season with the pitching staff being their biggest question mark. So far, it’s been the hitting that has not done their part.

A man with some responsibility for the success the staff in Queens has had is pitching coach Jeremy Hefner.

He joined Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman this week on “The Show” podcast.

‘The Show’ podcast with Joel Sherman & Jon Heyman:

  • FIRST MONTH OBSERVATIONS: Dodgers probably will run away with it. Mookie Betts has been remarkable. Yamamoto has bounced back after a slow start. AL Central and NL Central have both been surprisingly very good.
  • PITCHING INJURIES: It’s alarming and a problem for baseball.

Jeremy Hefner Interview:

  • LUIS SEVERINO: What has been the reason for his success this season?
  • REED GARRETT: Where did he come from and why has he been so good?
  • KODAI SENGA: When do they expect him to be back?
  • JOSE QUINTANA: Top five guy I’ve ever had in terms of a person and work ethic. Been fun to have a front row seat to watch him. It’s all about command with him.
  • PITCHING INJURIES: Pitchers are throwing harder and practicing harder. Can anything be done to change this?
  • CHRISTIAN SCOTT: He’s doing exactly what he needs to do. He’s a major league pitcher and his time will come.
