Even two decades after its accession to the European Union, Poland is still cautious about adopting the euro currency, stated the finance minister within the pro-European Union administration, as reported by AP.

Andrzej Domański, serving as the finance minister in Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s government, expressed on Monday during an interview on TVN24 that Poland’s entry into the eurozone, comprising 20 EU nations, lacks justification at present.

He emphasized his belief that maintaining its national currency, the zloty, has allowed Poland to navigate through challenges such as the global financial crisis without falling into recession.

As Poland and nine other countries commemorate the 20th anniversary of their EU accession on May 1, 2004, the commitment to eventually adopting the euro remains part of the membership agreement.
