76ers-Knicks pick
Following a split in Philadelphia, the New York Knicks return to Madison Square Garden for a closeout game against the 76ers tonight in their best-of-seven first-round series.
The Knicks are four-point favorites tonight, and that feels about right. All three of New York’s wins in this series have been close, but two of the wins have been by at least four points, and I would expect a similar result in Game 5.
First off, Philly center Joel Embiid missed today’s shootaround with a migraine, and is listed as questionable to play. He’s already dealing with Bell’s palsy and a knee injury, so the ailments are stacking up for the former MVP.
While Embiid hasn’t been perfect this series, he’s still averaging 35.0 points per game against the Knicks and his 50-point performance in Game 3 carried the 76ers to their only win in this series.
Jalen Brunson is questionable to play with a right knee contusion, but it looks like he’ll suit up after two outstanding games in Philadelphia. Brunson was very inefficient in New York’s first two wins at home, but he went up a level in Philly so we’ll see how that carries over to Game 5. Knicks center Mitchell is also questionable to play and center Jericho Sims is probable tonight.
