Barbra Streisand shocked by Ozempic remark backlash — and Melissa McCarthy reacts

Don’t rain on her parade.

Barbra Streisand, 82, has spoken out following her social media gaffe with Melissa McCarthy.

On Monday, McCarthy, 53, posted a few photos on Instagram of herself with choreographer Adam Shankman.

In a now-deleted comment, the “Way We Were” actress wrote on McCarthy’s page, “Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?”

After that made the rounds on social media and received backlash, the “Funny Girl” star took to her Instagram Story.

“OMG – I went on Instagram to see the photos we’d posted of the beautiful flowers I’d received for my birthday!” Streisand wrote, having turned 82 on April 24.

She continued, “Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy who I sang with on my Encore album. She looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment.”

McCarthy, for her part, reacted to the comments in LA on Tuesday. “I think Barbra is a treasure and I love her,” she said, via TMZ.

Streisand said “OMG!” in her Instagram Story, addressing the backlash.

Before Streisand deleted the “Ozempic” comment, she got plenty of reactions from fans.

“DOES SHE NOT KNOW EVERYONE CAN SEE HER COMMENTS???” one person wrote.

“Babs. No, honey. Just no,” one fellow commenter replied on Instagram.

“Major boomer aunt with wine and an ipad energy,” another wrote.

“Babs typing away on IG like my elderly mom telling me she text someone something, and me explaining: ‘No, mom, you wrote it on FB on your wall for all to see 😂😂,’ ” added another.

“Serving the Streisand Effect in real time,” one person wrote on X, referring to how deleting the comment did not make it get less attention.

“I forgot the world is reading!” said Streisand. Kevin Mazur

McCarthy has spoken openly about body image issues and weight loss over the years. But, the comedian has not mentioned Ozempic, a diabetes drug that has become trendy for weight-loss purposes.

McCarthy has said before that she’s been “every size on the planet.” She also said she once lost 70 pounds by turning to an all-liquid diet, which she’d “never” do again.

Other online spectators cut Streisand a break for the blunder.

“I believe she meant that for a private question. Cant any of you show her some grace !!” one person wrote.

“She probably thought it was a DM lol,” another user noted.

On Tuesday, Streisand ended her Instagram Story statement by writing: “I forgot the world is reading!”
