Whoopi Goldberg wasn’t afraid to critique the latest work of this morning’s View guest Jim Gaffigan, but she was just as quick to retract her remarks after being proven wrong.

Gaffigan appeared on today’s episode of The View to promote Unfrosted, an upcoming Netflix film about the creation of the PopTart. While chatting with the co-hosts, Gaffigan said he knew about the film before creator Jerry Seinfeld sold it to Netflix, and was hoping for a role from the very start.

“I’ve known Jerry for years, and during the lockdown he told me that he was writing this script and then when he sold it to Netflix, I had to stay in that position of the friend that wasn’t asking to be in the movie,” Gaffigan said. “I had to hold myself back.”

He quipped, “I’m like, ‘How’s that going?’ In the back of my mind I’m like, ‘Where’s my damn part?’ … Then he turned around and he offered me a part, so I was very excited.”

Gaffigan stars in Unfrosted as Edsel Kellogg III, while Seinfeld plays Bob Cabana. The cast also features Christian Slater, Hugh Grant, Max Greenfield and Amy Schumer.

Ana Navarro told her guest that plenty of people are gunning for juicy roles these days, including a spot in her co-worker’s own upcoming project.

“You have no idea the amount of people that come here that want to be on Sister Act 3,” Navarro told Gaffigan, noting that some View guests “keep asking [Goldberg] every time.”

Goldberg then chimed in with a direct shot at Unfrosted.

“Well, I noticed there was nothing darker than y’all in that movie. Weren’t we there?” she said, before turning and looking right at the camera to say, “Jerry. Jerry! None of us?”

Sunny Hostin pointed out that Unfrosted featured “a few” people of color in a “dance scene,” while Gaffigan named his co-stars Sarah Cooper and Cedric The Entertainer.

“Oh yeah, Cedric was there,” Hostin confirmed.

Goldberg replied, “I didn’t see that,” before apologizing for her words.

“I’m sorry, Ceddy. I missed it. I take everything back,” she said.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC. Unfrosted premieres May 3 on Netflix.
