Iran and Cambodia are recognized as countries with the most abundant number of paid public holidays. Both countries observe 27 days provided for rest and holidays.

In Iran, this generosity in time off is linked to numerous religious holidays, while for the residents of Cambodia, a constitutional monarchy, this time is allocated for the commemoration of royal family events and the traditional Khmer New Year, which is celebrated grandly over several days.

On the list of countries with the fewest paid public holidays are Tunisia (6 days), Uruguay (5 days), and Chad (3 days).

However, in some countries, such as the USA, Japan, and certain small Pacific island nations, federal legislation does not mandate the provision of paid public holidays, leaving it to the discretion of employers.
