Musician devastated after guitar she played with Harry Styles is destroyed while flying Delta

Move over, Pete Townshend!

Delta Airlines has been accused of “purposefully” smashing a musician’s Martin acoustic guitar after she found the instrument’s splintered remains in its hard case following her flight.

Unlike rock legend Townshend — guitarist for The Who who destroyed more than 35 guitars in 1967 alone — Madi Diaz, 37, was shocked to find her own string instrument had met the same fate.

“Truly devastated by the damage done by @Delta to my 20-year-old martin guitar,” Diaz wrote on X.

“So many memories just gone. Absolutely beyond devastated. Please repost. @Delta needs to be held responsible.”

Diaz played the guitar on tour with Harry Styles.

In a video accompanying the tweet, Diaz panned over the broken guitar showing the extent of the damage while reminiscing on the memories she shared while playing it — including touring with Harry Styles.

“Delta, this is unfathomable and just so devastating,” the singer said in the short video posted along with detailed photographs.

“This is completely unfixable. I will never play this guitar again and I’m just absolutely shocked at the treatment of this instrument.”

In an Instagram story, she wrote: ”From my dorm room in college to stages with @Harry_Styles this guitar has been with me through ALL OF IT.”

Diaz had also taped Styles’ song “Medicine” to the guitar so she could remember it during her performance — with the paper left in shreds.

“20 years of memories — all the tours and records and songs written on this guitar. Shattered by carelessness. I’m absolutely heartbroken,” Diaz added.

In the 39-second clip, Diaz noted that a red “Fragile” sticker on the case appeared to have been “scratched off purposefully” while X users echoed her fury.

“It literally looks like someone did this on purpose to @madidiaz guitar…how does this happen?” fellow singer Jamie Floyd replied.

“This is the way she makes her living..and someone smashed it in..on your watch. Make this right.”

“It was even in a solid hard shell case. Damage like this is not accidental by any means.. you have to try to do that,” another added in the comments.

Delta apologized to Diaz on X for the “long wait” for its response and asked the singer to contact it in a private message.

The airline also issued a statement to the Sun saying, “Delta apologizes to Madi for the damage to her instrument.”

“We’re in contact with her team to try to make this right,” they added in the statement.

The Post reached out to both Delta and Diaz for comment.
