In Baghdad, Iraqi TikTok star Om Fahad was shot dead near her home. The Iraqi Ministry of Interior confirmed in a statement that the “woman known on social media sites” was killed by “unknown attackers.” A specialized task force has been formed to investigate the crime, BBC reports.

Fahad, whose real name is Ghufran Savadi, was shot in her own car. The killer is an unidentified person who approached the woman’s car on a motorcycle. A source in Iraq’s security services told AFP that the attacker likely posed as a food delivery person. The American news agency Al Hurra reported that another woman was injured as a result of the attack on the blogger.

Fahad gained fame on TikTok by posting videos of herself dancing to pop music in tight clothing. She had tens of thousands of followers. Last year, she was sentenced to six months in prison for sharing videos that the court deemed to undermine “modesty and public morals.”

It is also known that there was recently a conflict between Fahad and another Iraqi celebrity, Dalal al-Na’im, known as the “Iraqi Barbie.” The latter threatened to reveal Fahad’s alleged relationships with high-ranking officials in Iraq.
