The Prime Minister of Hungary, Victor Orban, complained that the state of freedom of speech in Europe is pitiful, unlike in Hungary, where, as he claims, people are not punished for their personal opinions. Orban said this on the radio, quoted by the Hungarian publication Telex.

Orban appeared on the air of the state radio station for the first time after a long pause. He mentioned a conservative conference that local authorities closed this month in Brussels, stating that “hotels and catering establishments were openly threatened.”

Orban said that anyone in European countries who has an opinion different from the mainstream risks losing their job.

“To listeners, this may seem like an exaggeration, but in the West, you can’t just publish something on Facebook. If your opinion differs from the mainstream, you risk losing your job. The most serious part of what happened in Brussels is the open threats received by a catering company that served the conference,” Orban said.

He said that in Hungary, unlike the West, people are not punished only for their differing opinions and accused Brussels of acting according to the “Soros plan,” which outlines in detail the “destruction of Europe.”
