Neoplants, a biotech startup, has introduced an innovative air purification system called Neo Px that significantly enhances the air-cleaning capabilities of houseplants.

By utilizing advanced plant bioengineering, this new system can increase a plant's ability to remove airborne toxins by up to 30 times the normal rate.

Would you believe this new plant system can purify your air at home more effectively than a normal plant? Filtering the air is now easier with Neoplant's technology.

The Neo Px system capitalizes on the natural air-purifying process known as phytoremediation.

As reported by CNET's David Watsky, Lionel Mora, CEO of Neoplants, and cofounder Patrick Torbey, who holds a doctorate in genomic engineering, has pioneered the use of specific scientific processes to boost this capability in common houseplants. Their efforts are supported by a peer-reviewed study conducted in collaboration with IMT University, validating the effectiveness of their approach.

Unique Features of the Neo Px System

Unlike traditional HEPA air purifiers, the Neo Px does not target the same range of particles. Instead, it focuses on volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as benzene, toluene, and xylene-commonly abbreviated as BTX. These harmful chemicals are often emitted from everyday household items like furniture, paint, and cleaning products.

The core of the Neo Px system is a minimalist self-watering planter paired with a proprietary power drop solution. This powder, when mixed with water and added to soil, enhances the plant's capacity to capture and neutralize VOCs.

As the plant absorbs these toxins, it converts them into beneficial nutrients like amino acids and sugars, which in turn feed the plant.

Here's Why Neo PX System is Out of This World

One of the most appealing aspects of the Neo Px system is its sustainability. It operates without electricity, produces no noise, and is continuously active, making it an eco-friendly alternative to electric air purifiers.

While it may not be as effective at removing solid particles such as smoke and dust, its ability to process harmful gases and contribute to a healthier living environment is unparalleled.

Exploring Genetically-Engineered Plants

Watsky said that upon meeting the geniuses behind this technology, they hinted at the potential for scaling this technology to address broader environmental challenges, such as atmospheric pollution and health issues related to climate change. He was told that the startup is already exploring genetically modified plants that could further enhance air purification capabilities in future iterations of the system.

How Much is This Air Purification System

The Neo Px system is currently available for purchase on the Neoplants website for $119, which includes six months of power drops. To maintain optimal performance, the soil needs refill drops every three months, available for $39. This small investment contributes not only to personal health but also supports broader environmental well-being.

What Neoplants did is a huge breakthrough in the way we approach indoor air quality. By harnessing the power of biotechnology and sustainable practices, this system offers a game-changing solution to indoor air pollution and sets a precedent for future innovations in environmental health technology.
