This is the moment a pensioner bravely fought back against a pair of alleged pickpockets who tried to steal his phone.

Both of the alleged pickpockets stand behind the elderly man and whisper to each other.

Meanwhile, the other man can be seen appearing to rifle through the pensioner's coat pockets.

However, the victim quickly notices something is wrong and looks behind him – catching the thief in the act.

The brazen thief then starts wagging his finger and shaking his head, trying to dismiss the pensioner's concerns.

But then he quickly shirks back as the elderly man raises a fist and steps towards him - making the alleged pickpocketer cringe in fear.

The pensioner then shows off his phone, revealing that they made a failed attempt to rob him.

A pickpocket appears to hit back at the man he tried to rob but the other thief pulls him away.

The incident occurred yesterday at 1:18pm.

Local Brian Stapleton said: 'What a low life.'

One fumed: 'Uncle made the pickpocketer poo himself.'

Another added: 'Awful.'

The Met has been approached for comment.
