High school students across Finland stage walkouts in protest against the government’s education cuts, as reported by YLE News

The government’s recent announcement of budget reductions for education, including changes to housing benefits for students, sparked widespread discontent among students. Organized by the high school student union, the protest saw thousands leaving classes to voice opposition to the proposed cuts.

Concerns were raised about the financial burden on students and the potential impact on education quality. The protest, coordinated largely through social media, attracted participation from approximately 140 high schools nationwide.

Student representatives expressed hope that their activism would lead to meaningful change.
