Dramatic video captured an attentive Target employee jumping into action and stopping three women from stealing a shopping cart with nearly $600 worth of clothes and other goods moments before the wannabe thieves took off.
Surveillance footage from Target in Gloucester Township shows the employee sprinting out of the store and stopping the women just outside the entrance — prompting them to run to their silver Jeep SUV parked nearby and take off.
The trio entered the Berlin Cross Keys Road store on Monday and filled their cart to the brim with clothing and other items totaling $581.29, Gloucester Township police said in a statement.
The video footage shows the women — one wearing a blue and black scarf on her head, one in a pink coat, and one in a brown coat — entering the store.
Surveillance footage shows the trio milling through the women’s clothing section, aimlessly adding items to their cart.
One of the women, pictured wearing a pink coat in surveillance footage, leaves the store and moves the Jeep to the front of the store.
Her two friends were then seen in surveillance footage approaching the register as if they were about to pay, but instead, they walk outside, taking their full cart with them.
Video shows the employee rushing in front of their cart just outside the store. The two women immediately walk away, hopping into the car waiting for them.
The suspects’ Jeep had a temporary New Jersey license plate and a spare front right tire, police said.
Police are asking for help identifying the women.
