‘Thank God’ Android users cry as Google plots new button to stop annoying text message feature

GOOGLE is plotting a long-awaited button that will let users 'clean' up an annoying text message feature.
The feature is Google Messages' newly introduced Screen Effects, which rain down on the screen when triggered by certain phrases, like 'I Love You'.

While the feature was positively received when it first rolled out, some users have quickly grown tired of it - and are looking for a way to disable it.
Screen Effects bring your messages to life by animating the words.
Unfortunately, Google didn't give users a button to switch it off.
However, a report by Android Police says the company has active plans to bring that highly requested button to life.

Code for a new toggle has been spotted in the latest version of the Google Messages app, but the feature is not live yet.
"Thank God," one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Another added: "Great move by Google. Sometimes you just want a clean messaging experience."
Messages Upgrade
Google unveiled Screen Effects alongside a suite of new features for Messages late last year.

The company revealed the features to celebrate 1 billion people using its encrypted RCS chats inside Google Messages.
One of the other new features was Photomoji, which lets you turn your photos into message reactions.
Another was Voice Moods, which lets you tack on emoji-style animations to your voice notes.
New Custom Bubbles lets you change the bubble color and background of your chats depending on who you're talking to.
You can also send animated emoji, and create custom chat profiles with a name and image.
