Her intentions were good when they brought a four-month-old rescue dog home.

But this guy turned out to be a lot more work than they ever expected.

And now they've shared her experience in a post on Reddit.

It isn't all bad because Redditor HBUnicorn clearly adores her maddening pooch.

But her lolloping Labrador does try her patience because he has a few bad habits.

"My God, I adopted my labrador as a four-month-old rescue and never again," they said.

"Rocks, sticks, entire socks. I'm nearly convinced there is no such thing as a lab, it's just a giant snake in a fur costume," they added.

They have to be on constant watch because he eats everything.

"Mine just turned a year old and has already had one foreign body surgery (he ate mulch!).

"Basically he lives his entire day with a basket muzzle on and a bandana that says 'Friendly. I just eat everything,'" they continued.

They've had to put in some heavy-duty training with a "drop it" command working very well.

Without the muzzle, her house would be a wreck, they admit.

"That basket muzzle has definitely saved my walls, door, yard, and closet."

The Labrador Owner's forum reported similar issues with their pets.

One said her dog was a "horror in the house," and nothing was out of bounds from its mouth.

"He ate tea towels, shoes, the U-bend to the sink, wall," they said.

"Once he opened the kitchen pantry door and pulled all the food out and ate as much of it as he could and was then sick all over the place.

"General nightmare," they added.

Our Redditor admitted they had a soft spot for Greyhounds — Italian Greyhounds in particular.

"I've lost more than one to cancer and I don't think I'll ever find a breed I love more," they said.

"I got 17 years out of my Italian Greyhound and 12 out of my retired racer and I never regretted a single second of it," they wrote.
