A MUM who wanted to make sure she had a strong tan before a fancy day out was left mortified when she saw it had turned an unnatural shade of green.

Mercades, from the UK, took to social media to show off her new fake tan - which went so dark it turned green as she mixed five together.

In the clip, she said: "I've mixed Bondi Sands, Saint Moritz, Saint Tropez tanning drops, Superdrug bronzing oils, and Molly Mae filter tan.

"And this is one coat.

"So I think that it's gonna be a nice colour in the morning."

The mum-of-one explained that she was never happy with her tan after washing it off as it was too pale - so decided to mix her own concoction up.

However, it didn't go quite to plan.

She was left in hysterics as she looked at herself through the phone camera - and her teeth looked luminous thanks to the sheer amount of fake tan she had put on her face.

Oh no! I didn't think this would happen.

She was heading out for a fancy afternoon tea on a canal cruise with her daughter the next day so went to bed before checking on it again in the morning.

But the next clip saw the mum-of-one panicking as the green-tinged tan wouldn't come off.

She revealed she went into the shower but the tan didn't come off so she went in with a baby wipe.

" Oh my God. Oh no!" she exclaimed as she tried to scrub the tan, which had developed into a murky brown/green colour overnight off.

"I didn't think this would happen," she continued as the fake tan failed to budge.

After attempting to scrub it off with the wipe - the mum decided to head back into the shower - telling viewers she would keep them updated if she looked 'normal'.

The clips have gone viral over on her TikTok account @mercades2005 with 3million views.

People were left in hysterics and took to the comments to share their thoughts.

One person wrote: "Ross from Friends vibes."

Another commented: "I'm confused, why is everything tinged dirty green?"

"This is why I don’t fake tan," penned a third.

The mum updated viewers after heading out for the day saying she was able to get the tan off by scrubbing it in the shower.

Someone else added: "I’ve come back just to results."

Five steps for the perfect fake tan

Fabulous' beauty writer Mia Lyndon shares her fail-proof fake tanning routine: "Shelling out on a pricey formula, or slathering yourself in multiple products won't promise you a good tan - but a bit of prep work will.

"Most bad tans (think tiger bread skin and streakiness) result from applying product to dry or textured skin, so it's crucial to prep your skin's surface before you bronze.

"The good news is, it's really simple - here's how to guarantee a good tan every time."

1. Massage a simple moisturiser, like coconut oil, into your skin a few days before you tan. This will help hydrate your skin and combat dryness.

2. On tanning day, exfoliate your skin in the shower with a body scrub of loofah, paying close attention to dry areas like elbows and knees.

3. Oil-based formulas can interfere with tanning formulations, and even break them down, affecting your tan's colour and finish on your skin. So, steer clear of perfumes and deodorants for at least 12 hours before and after you tan.

4. Some tanning formulas can be drying on the skin, leading to peeling skin and flakiness, so ensure you moisturise your skin daily after tanning.

5. Whilst you wait in limbo for your next tanning session, top up your glow with a gradual tan. Isle Of Paradise Gradual Self-Tan Lotion, £8.99, has just launched and has already amassed rave reviews!
