World’s largest Peppa Pig outdoor theme park to open on Asian island with immersive shows, rides and hotels

A BRAND new outdoor Peppa Pig theme park is set to open on an island in Asia.
It is hoped that the park will be open to the public by 2027, with developers boasting that it will be the world's biggest outdoor Peppa Pig theme park.

The news was announced by toy and game company Hasbro and Max-Matching Entertainments this week, who explained how much would be spent on the attraction.
They said the park would be nearly 20 hectares in size and would cost 2.4bn CNY (£270m).
It will be built on Changxing island in the Chongming district in Shanghai, China.
The island is situated about an hour and a half north of the city centre and has been home to theme parks before, with the now abandoned Shanghai Stunt City previously found there.
It's also home to an orange garden and is the site of the Shanghai Citrus Festival every autumn.

Now it's set to be the location of the brand new Peppa Pig theme park, which will have rides, an immersive show, and a hotel all themed around the popular kids' TV show.
Further information about what exactly families can expect from the Chinese park remain thin on the ground as of yet, but will be revealed in due course as construction starts.
Concept artwork suggests a rollercoaster and a ferris wheel could be on the cards.
Speaking at the park's launch event, Owen Zhao, president of Max-Matching Entertainments gave a brief overview of what will feature in the park.

He said: "The new Peppa Pig theme park will boast innovative features, new themed areas, rides, an immersive show, and a themed hotel specifically designed for the China market, especially with its three-generation family in mind.
"The attraction will be a must-see and must-experience for millions of families looking to immerse themselves in the magic of Peppa’s expansive world.”

Matt Proulx, Senior Vice President of Global Experiences, Partnerships and Music at Hasbro suggested it may not be the last Peppa Pig attraction to open in China either.
He said: “Construction of the Peppa Pig outdoor theme park in Changxing Island in Chongming marks a significant milestone for Hasbro in China and a natural evolution for the Peppa Pig brand.
“We will continue to work closely together to develop more projects in China, including bringing Peppa Pig outdoor theme parks and memorable live experiences to more cities for Chinese children and families to enjoy.”
Cai Xiaofei, deputy director at Changxing Island Administrative Committee added: "The Peppa Pig outdoor theme park will further enhance Shanghai as a global tourism destination and propel its economy.
Use these tips on your next theme park trip
Next time you visit a theme park, you may want to use our top tips to make the most of your adrenaline-inducing day out.
- Go to the back of the theme park first. Rides at the front will have the longest queues as soon as it opens.
- Go on water rides in the middle of the day in the summer - this will cool you off when the sun is at its hottest.

The park isn't the first of its kind in the world, with Paultons Park's Peppa Pig World in the UK featuring nine Peppa-themed rides.
Families and children can also meet their favourite characters from the show who are often spotted walking around.
