American Horror Story: Delicate

Powered by Reelgood

The latest season of American Horror Story has just aired its anger-inducing finale that left viewers with several questions. But while Delicate may have been a lackluster season, it earned a higher rating on Rotten Tomatoes than NYC, Hotel, Cult, and Roanoke. With the mixed reviews, will there be more of the hit anthology series or has the show reached its end?

Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the series premiered in 2011 on FX and has offered dark tales about supernatural beings such as witches, aliens, and ghosts, as well as real-life horrors like serial killers and cults.

Season 12 followed rising actress Anna Victoria Alcott (Emma Roberts) as she navigated her pregnancy while being stalked by a mysterious group of people.

Decider’s Joel Keller praised the season’s horror in his review, writing, “What AHS is good at is being creepy and gross, and Delicate is no exception, showing not-pleasant visions of the dead bird embryos and using unsettling noises and camera angles to show Anna’s visions.”

Wondering if the popular series will return for another season? Here’s everything we know.

Will There Be An American Horror Story Season 13?

We have some good news! Yes, there will be a 13th season of American Horror Story. Per Entertainment Weekly, the show was renewed through Season 13 in 2020.

In a press release, FX Networks Chairman John Landgraf praised Murphy and Brad Falchuk as “the undisputed masters of horror TV” for their work on “FX’s highest-rated series.”

Landgraf said, “AHS has showcased a wealth of award-winning actors since day one and we appreciate the contributions of everyone, including Ryan, Brad, and fellow executive producers Tim Minear, James Wong, Alexis Martin Woodall, and Bradley Buecker, the writers, directors, cast and crew for each new, unforgettable installment of American Horror Story.”

As of now, no details have been announced about Season 13 or the show’s future. However, Landgraf shared his support for the show at the Television Critics Association’s 2023 Winter Tour where he spoke about how Hulu has been exposing the show to a wider audience.

“The viewership for everything on linear channels has been declining. That’s just not where particularly young people are, and a pretty young audience tends to watch scripted programming,” he said. “So thank goodness we’re able to put it on Hulu because we were able to really recover. Hulu has a younger medium age – I think 15 to 20 years younger than FX – and more female. So we were able to recover access to a whole lot of the audience.”

Season 12 marks the first season of American Horror Story without Murphy as a showrunner, and many fans have theorized that Season 13 will be the last season of the anthology series.

Of course, there’s still time for FX to renew the series for more seasons. Season 12 suffered delays related to the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes, therefore it is unlikely that production on Season 13 has started.

While waiting for updates on the upcoming season, fans can revisit the current seasons on Hulu and tune into the spin-off series American Horror Stories, which aired its third season last year.
