Jess explained that she and her husband no longer sleep in the same bed, as they nearly got a divorce over sleep.

The 28 year old shares a two and a half year old son with Dylan, and explained that for the entire time he has been alive, the couple "have not slept", due to their son being unable to sleep through the night.

"Being sleep deprived has absolutely wreaked havoc in our jobs, our daily lives and our relationship together as well", she said.

Jess, who is a part time wheelchair user, said that she believes the lack of sleep has also probably played a factor in her poor health.

Back in November, the couple decided to put their spare double bed into their toddler's room and now Jess shares a room with her son and Dylan stays in the couples' bedroom.

"Since then, my toddler has slept through the whole night", she said.

She added that this sleeping arrangement has made her and Dylan feel "so rested" and said that it has done "absolute wonders" for their relationship.

"We don't fight any more", she said.

Jess said that if anyone else is in the same boat as the couple, she would definitely recommend that they try sleeping in different beds.

Despite not sharing a bed, Jess said that she and Dylan still make time to be intimate together, and revealed that she misses him when she is sleeping in her son's room.

She said that she hopes the couple can go back to sharing a bed in the not too distant future.

Jess' video, which was posted under the username @ourlifewithdylanandme, has gone viral, racking up over 176,000 views on the video-sharing platform, in just a few days.

TikTok users raced to the video's comments section to share their thoughts on the couple's sleeping arrangements, and opinions were divided.

One person said: "I couldn’t imagine this, as soon as our boys in bed we’re in bed cuddling"

A second person added: "Myself and my ex used to have separate rooms and it was a reflection of our very unhappy relationship, now I embrace cuddling to sleep every night."

The best sleep routine and environment

Thomas Høegh Reisenhus, TEMPUR® sleep specialist & sleep counsellor, reveals the key components of a good bedtime routine and environment...

A sure-fire way to facilitate a better night’s sleep is to practice good sleep hygiene.

Establish a sleep routine that works for you and stick to it.

This will help your body establish a consistent, natural sleep-wake cycle which can do wonders for your overall sleep quality.

As such, try to avoid making up for lost sleep with a lie-in.

Instead of sleeping in, spend your morning reading a book in bed or having a leisurely coffee in the kitchen.

Ensure that your bedroom, bedding, and sleepwear are fit for purpose too.

The ideal sleep environment is dark, quiet, and cool – much like a cave.

If you find unwelcome sources of light are keeping you up, consider investing in an eye mask or black-out curtains.

Adding soft furnishings can be a great way to reduce noise, with the surfaces having an absorptive quality, but if this doesn’t work, consider embracing a soothing soundtrack to block it out.

In terms of temperature, try to keep your bedroom at 18°C. You can further reduce the risk of waking up due to overheating by ensuring that all your bedding and sleepwear is made with natural, breathable materials such as cotton and linen.

Bear in mind that everyone is different; what might work for most, may not work for you!

Whilst knowing how much sleep you should get, how to overcome common barriers, and practicing good sleep hygiene can facilitate a great night’s sleep, if you continue to struggle with sleep or fatigue persistently, do not hesitate to visit a doctor or health professional for support.

A third said: "I haven’t slept with my partner since I was pregnant and his snoring was driving me insane.

"We both sleep better!"

A fourth added: "Sleep is important.

"As Human beings we put so much emphasis on sleeping in one bed as some kind of romantic thing.
