Shirley said: "Urging all women do not miss your mammogram. I went for mine, ended up going for a second one and a biopsy. Local anaesthetic biopsy done. Now waiting for results.

"Amy Dowden you ran through my mind. The importance of not putting it off. Go and get tested. Plus self breast check regularly."

Strictly professional Amy, 33, missed the last series of the show while she battled breast cancer.

The Welsh dancer had a mastectomy and chemotherapy and needs monthly injections for the next five years.

She is now targeting a return to Strictly after being told there was no longer any sign of cancer in her body.

Amy told BBC Breakfast last week: "Do you know what, that would be the dream, I'm working really hard and getting my body full back and rehab and physio."

Back in 2019 Shirley went under the knife to have her breast implants removed over cancer fears.

The telly judge reversed her boob job after a string of personal cancer scares and diagnoses in her family.

Shirley — whose mum and auntie had cancer, and who lost another aunt to the disease — vowed to reverse a boob job she had in 2002 after a nurse’s words in the middle of a mammogram made her freeze.

She was told: “There’s no guarantee that we can ever really see behind the back of the implants.”

Shirley decided to have implants in 2002 after years of pressure in the dance world over her appearance.

But she voiced her regret 17 years later, saying: “I did mine not to be vain but because I thought I looked ugly.

“If I could go back and talk to my younger self I would say, ‘Never get them done.’ But I did them because I had low self-esteem and no confidence.

“People told me, ‘Oh you’ve got a chest like two currants on a bread board.’ They would say they’re joking, but you still absorb it. It still goes in your mind.”

In 2021 Shirley had another scare when a growth was found in her shoulder.

The lump was pointed out to her by fans watching TV at home.

She explained at the time: “It’s something between two bones and they are not really sure what it is yet.

“They have done the dye and the MRIs plus this and that. I get the results in a few weeks. The gentleman seems to think it will be fine but, still, it is worrying.”

Fortunately the lump was not cancerous.
